Day 20

New day, same challenges. By the time 1600 rolled around, we were all pretty much running off fumes. My team were back on watch. Thankfully the sea had started to ease off slightly. The boat was still moving but it had gone from trying to destroy us, to giving us a break. That small bit of warmth and light completely changed the mood. After spending the day looking like we had just survived something we probably shouldn’t have, everyone had a bit more life to them. A rare moment of how quickly things can turn around at sea.

Later into the evening, the sun was setting and the team were really bonding with plenty of bants and good vibes, just to top it off even more we then saw an iceberg!! For most of us on board, it was the first one we’d ever seen. After spending the day being battered. Standing on the deck watching this huge piece of ice drifting through the water was pretty special.

We’re 19 days into the trip, heading towards Greenland and the environment is starting to change around us. The sea may have absolutely rinsed us but the moments like that make all the suffering, lack of sleep and questionable life choices worth it!
